TORONTO (Reuters) – Canadian home sales took a breather in December but were still 10% higher in the fourth quarter compared to the third quarter as the Bank of Canada cut borrowing costs, data from the Canadian Real Estate<\/span> Association (CREA) showed on Wednesday.<\/p>\n The fourth quarter increase stood among the stronger quarters for activity in the last 20 years outside of the pandemic, CREA said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe number of homes sold across Canada declined in December compared to a stronger October and November, although that was likely more of a supply story than a demand story,\u201d Shaun Cathcart, CREA\u2019s senior economist, said in a statement.<\/p>\n \u201cOur forecast continues to be for a significant unleashing of demand in the spring of 2025, with the expected bottom for interest rates coinciding with sellers listing properties for sale in big numbers once the snow melts.\u201d<\/p>\n The Bank of Canada has cut interest rates by 1.75 percentage points since June to 3.25% to support the economy.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Sales fell by 5.8% in December from November but were up 19.2% on an annual basis.<\/p>\n The industry group’s home price index edged up 0.3% on the month and was down 0.2% annually. <\/p>\n \n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" [db:\u6458\u8981]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[20],"tags":[28],"class_list":["post-10717","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-economy","tag-db"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/cryptoopia.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10717","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/cryptoopia.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/cryptoopia.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/cryptoopia.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/cryptoopia.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=10717"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/cryptoopia.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/10717\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/cryptoopia.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=10717"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/cryptoopia.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=10717"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/cryptoopia.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=10717"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
