Portugal stocks higher at close of trade; PSI up 0.84%

Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI rose 0.84%.

The best performers of the session on the PSI were EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), which rose 3.08% or 0.34 points to trade at 11.37 at the close. Meanwhile, EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) added 2.16% or 0.07 points to end at 3.50 and Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI:RENE) was up 1.92% or 0.05 points to 2.38 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT), which fell 2.42% or 0.44 points to trade at 17.77 at the close. Corticeira Amorim (ELI:CORA) declined 0.49% or 0.04 points to end at 8.17 and Semapa (ELI:SEM) was 0.00% or 0.00 points to 14.30.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 16 to 8 and 4 ended unchanged.

Brent oil for January delivery was down 1.49% or 1.08 to $71.48 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.72% or 1.18 to hit $67.52 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.22% or 5.70 to trade at $2,567.20 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.22% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.53% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 106.53.
